NRG Acoustics A-70: Areas of use

NRG Acoustics HJ-17: Multichannel audio

Surround sound is a method of enriching the sound processing superior quality of an audio source with additional audio channels from speakers that surround the listener (surround channels), providing sound with a 360 radius in the horizontal plane (2D) in contrast to "screen channels" (middle, [front] left, and [front] right) originating only from the listener's frontward arc.

Multichannel audio is portrayed by a listener location or sweet spot where the audio effects perform best, and provides a limited or frontward perspective of the sound area to the listener around this location. The technique enhances the belief of sound spatialization by exploiting sound localization; a listener's ability to identify the location or origin of a detected sound in direction and range. This typically is achieved with the help of multiple discrete audio channels routed to an array of loudspeakers.

There are many multichannel audio based formats and methods, ranging in processing and recording options combined with number and placing more stations.

NRG Acoustics A-70: Areas of use

Though cinema and soundtracks characterize the primary purposes of surround techniques, its scope of use is more expansive than that as surround sound permits creation of an audio-environment for all sorts of functions. Multichannel techniques could be used to recreate contents as various as music, speech, synthetic or natural sounds for cinema, television, transmissions, or computer systems. Regarding music content for example, an active performance may also use multichannel approaches to the context of an open-air event, of an musical theatre or perhaps for broadcasting; for a film specific techniques are tailored to movie theatre, or to home (e.g. home cinema systems).

The narrative place is also a content that may be enhanced through multichannel solutions. This is applicable mainly to cinema narratives, as an example the dialog of the characters of a film, but might also be utilized on plays for theatre, to a meeting, or to incorporate voice-based comments in an archeological site or monument. E . g ., an exhibition may be enhanced with topical ambient sound of water, wild birds, train or equipment noises. Applicable natural sounds can also be used in educative applications.

NRG Acoustics SG-4 - Alternative fields of application contain video gaming systems, computers along with other platforms.

In these purposes, the material would typically be fabricated noise maded by the computer equipment in interaction with its user. Significant work has been specifically done using multichannel for enhanced situation knowledge in military services and public safety purposes.
